Dear Ronnie Shows:

On behalf of the Military Retiree Grass Roots Group, we would like to express our very sincere appreciation for the support you provided the Military Retiree Community while you served as a United States Congressman for the Mississippi 4th Congressional District.

Thank you for fighting to restore the lifetime medical care that was contractually promised to military retirees while they were on active duty in service to the American People and the United States Government.

Thank you for attending a military retiree summit meeting, in Laurel, MS, on 27 March 1999, concerning the military retiree medical care broken promise issue and thank you, as you promised, for introducing HR 2966, HR 3573, and HR 179, the "Keep Our Promise to America's Military Retirees Act".

There is little doubt that it was the introduction of this legislation, and your inspirational leadership, that provided the catalyst which caused the Military Retiree Grass Roots Group to rally into action. There is also little doubt that it was this grass root action that led to the debate in the House and Senate that resulted in "Tricare for Life", a medical care entitlement for Medicare eligible military retirees and their Medicare eligible dependents.

You will always be remembered as a Congressman that kept his promise.

Sincerely:
The Military Retiree Grass Roots Group
