It was at this Laurel, MS, meeting that Congressman Ronnie Shows promised, at the urging of Jim Whittington, to introduce a bill designed to restore the medical care that was promised to military retirees after their retirement. Congressman Shows followed through on his promise and introduced the "Keep Our Promise to America's Military Retirees Act". There is no doubt that the meeting in Laurel, MS, and the bill that Congressman Shows introduced, played a huge role in the process that led to Tricare for Life.
